The Biggest Advantage of Lockdown

BIGGEST ADVANTAGE OF LOCKDOWN!Remember the very first lockdown? Everything shutdown and we all were forced to stay in our homes with whatever groceries and vegetables we had. Nothing could be brought home from outside nor could be ordered. All those terrible days everyone had to cook at their homes, no fancy restaurants and street food. The so called 'foodies' weren't able to go out and enjoy various delicacies. It was such a big struggle for people who were all dependent on servants or other food services for their daily meals.

‌Who knew this lockdown was going to extend for such a long period. I'm a big foodie and also an enthusiastic self taught cook. I didn't face any challenge while dealing with this situation. I used to cook whatever I craved for and also tried lots of new recipes. Who doesn't want to post delicious food pictures on social media :p. I used to daily put up photos on social media. Many of my friends reacted differently to these posts as they weren't able to cook themselves or their mother's wouldn't cook some cafe style or street style food items.

They say the basic necessity of every man is roti,kapda aur makaan

but what's the point if you have good clothes on and a very beautiful house to live but can't feed yourself. Cooking is just not limited to some specific gender or a family member. Being able to cook basic food is very important. In conditions like lockdown or say when no one and no services are around us how are we supposed to survive? Naah! No! Maggi and other instant food is not the solution. Things changed during this lockdown as many of us would have noticed that many people actually learnt basic cooking and utilised this free time.Thanks to social media everybody can flex their culinary skills :p.

Some people have got so obsessed that they regret not knowing this beautiful art before. Cooking is a very beautiful and satisfying art which gives us joy and also it's a basic necessity of every human being. I personally would insist that each and every adult should know how to cook basic food. This can be learnt from our homes itself without having the feeling that it's a job that certain gender or member of the family do!
