Introduction
- The Meitei community is the predominant ethnic group of Manipur in North East India.
- They are also known as Manipuri people.
- These people also present in Assam, Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Mizoram.
- Myanmar and Bangladesh also have a huge population of Meitei people.
- These people mostly live in valley area of Manipur State.
Language : Meitei people speak Meitei language.
Population: Meitei people are in majority in Manipur and they have around 53% population of Manipur.
Famous Personality: The Olympic medal-winning boxer and Rajya Sabha MP, Mary Kom belongs to Manipur State only.
