What is the main root cause for Manipur State violence in May 2023?

Meitei people have been demanding since long to add them into Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.
On 19th April 2023, Manipur High Court directed to the State to pursue a 10-year-old recommendation to grant Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the non-tribal Meitei community.
Manipur can be divided into 2 major areas:
Hill Area : The hill comprises 90% of total Manipur geographical area and inhabited by 35% recognized Tribes but only sending 20 MLA to the Manipur Assembly.
Valley Area : The valley comprises only 10% of total Manipur geographical area and dominated by the non-tribal Meitei who account for more than 64% of the population but sends 40 MLA Assembly.
Root Cause of Violence:
Since non-tribal Meitei people are in majority and they also control majority of MLA in Manipur Assembly, other tribal people doesn't like if these people get tribal status.
